Q. What type of franchise is available?
A. American Male Salons, Inc. offers you the opportunity to operate an upscale men's salon providing grooming needs - personalized hair, body and nail care services - and retail sales of hair, body and nail care products.

Q. How much does the American Male salon franchise cost?
A. We offer two franchise programs. The estimated initial investment to establish a single American Male salon ranges from $170,000 to $312,000, including a salon franchise fee of $28,000. If you wish to develop multiple American Male salons within a defined geographic area, the initial franchise fee for the first American Male salon opened by you is $28,000. The franchise fee for each additional American Male salon is $21,000. The development fee is equal to $10,500 multiplied by the number of additional American Male Salons you agree to develop.

Q. How much is the fee for continuing support services?
A. The continuing services, or "royalty" fee, is five percent of your gross sales, which must be paid on a monthly basis. The fee entitles you to use the American Male trade name and the associated service marks and provides access to operational systems, marketing assistance, ongoing business development, consulting and other benefits that come with being a part of the American Male salon franchise opportunity.

Q. Will I have an exclusive territory?
A. American Male will grant you a "protected territory" that will be delineated by streets, highways, or natural or political boundaries and will consist of an area with the following demographics: minimum household income of $55,000; total population of approximately 90,000 persons.

Q. What about advertising?
A. The American Male salon name and reputation are an important part of your business. You are required to spend at least $2,500 on grand opening advertising during your first three months of operation, and we provide you with guidelines for your grand opening advertising. Also, you are required to spend at least two percent of your gross sales on a monthly basis on local advertising and promotion. In addition, once implemented, you will be required to contribute an amount of up to one percent of your gross sales on a weekly basis to the American Male salon system-wide marketing fund, which is designed to promote the overall American Male salon brand.

Q. How much training is provided in the American Male system?
A. You or your designated manager will be required to attend an initial training course of approximately ten days. The initial training focuses on various aspects of your salon and includes both classroom and on-the-job training. We provide this training to you as part of your salon franchise fee. Prior to opening your salon you will have 3 days of in-salon training with an additional 5 days of training once your salon opens.

Q. What form of business start-up assistance and ongoing support will I receive?
A. For approximately five days around the time you open for business, we will furnish one of our representatives on-site for opening and operations assistance. In addition, we provide operational assistance and guidance in various aspects of your American Male salon, throughout the salon franchise term. We also will loan you a copy of the American Male Operations Manual containing specifications, standards and procedures.

Q. What is the term of the American Male salon franchise agreement?
A. The franchise agreement term is five years from the date the agreement is signed. If you have substantially complied with the terms of the franchise agreement, the franchise is renewable for four additional terms of five years each.
